I am sorry for being MIA lately. there have been a string of events that have eaten-up my extra time and when push came to shove I chose to photograph or sew rather than blogging. trust me it was a hard decision and i missed all of you so very much.
Here is a glimpse at my most successful attempt at sewing a garment for myself. I cut out the pattern and fabric for this Amy Butler pattern about a month (if not more) ago. Thats when I go scared and was too afraid to subject pretty fabric to my horrible sewing skills. I had to just jump in one night and make my self do it. The first part went so smoothly that my confidence swelled and a Grinch like smile curled on my lips. Then I had to rip out FIVE long seams to make adjustments. This quickly squashed my overconfidence and put me back in my place. That was not the end of of the mistakes. Some I fixed and some I am living with. In the end, I love it and cannot wait to make the pattern in all it's variations! Maybe with some heavier weight fabric...
I have to admit the pattern is great for anyone new to sewing. Very clear instructions. If you have sewed a few things and are ready to step up the game - this pattern is just challenging enough to make you think but not so complicated that you give up and eat chocolate instead.
thank you Brad for taking my picture, remind me to return the favor tonight.
